UA RUSSIAN ABROAD COURSE
SELECTION LANGUAGE PROGRAM

Course selection is made through consultation with the program director who will interview each student after arrival in Russia. Summer Session students receive 6 units per program. Semester program participants receive 15 units of UA semester credit.

LOWER DIVISION I
(Prerequisite: Beginning level to one semester of Russian or equivalent)

Courses labeled "a" are offered the first summer session in St. Petersburg State and Moscow; courses labeled "b" are offered the second
summer session in Moscow.

Russian 162a,b Phonetics in Russia I
1 credit each (15 academic hours per course).
Basic phonetics/intonation problems for native speakers of English learning Russian.

Russian 164a,b Grammar in Russia I
3 credits each (45 academic hours per course).
Basic grammatical constructions, nominal declensions, verbal conjugations. Emphasis is upon grammar through communication.

Russian 166a,b Conversation in Russia I
2 credits each (30 academic hours per course).
Introductions, talking about the self, family, educational environment.

Russian 199 Independent Study
1-4 credits each.

Reducing the English accent.

Introduction to all case forms, tenses, verbal aspect. Emphasis is upon grammar through communication.
